The LineVue robot for the inspection of conductor condition allows the operator to non-destructively inspect Al/Fe (ACSR) conductors and protective steel lightning conductor ropes using either a dead or live working method. The LineVue robot measures the remaining cross-section of a steel core and detects local damage and corrosion holes in the steel core of the conductor. This information is useful for determining the current condition of the conductor, which helps the operator or engineer administrator to make decisions regarding the assessment of the remaining useful life or life cycle of the conductor. In October 2021, C&G carried out a pilot project to inspect the condition of conductors using the LineVue robot on five transmission lines or nine spans owned by ELES.
